5 Eye-Opening Lessons on Healing Anxious Attachment

Coach Kate Durocher Programs

If you’ve ever felt like you’re too much, feared abandonment, or struggled with the push-pull dynamic in relationships, you’re not alone. Healing anxious attachment isn’t just about learning new tools—it’s about unlearning old patterns that no longer serve you.

Inside my recent group coaching program, 8 Weeks to Security, we dove deep into what actually shifts an anxious attachment into a secure, confident, and self-trusting mindset.

Here are 5 powerful lessons we learned:

✨ Avoidants don’t feel bad (in the moment). When avoidants pull away, it’s not because they don’t care—it’s because space is their safety mechanism. Their regret often comes later, after they’ve had time to process.

✨ Your body remembers, even if you don’t. You might not recall a specific childhood event that shaped your attachment style, but your emotions tell a story. What you felt as a child is just as important as what happened.

✨ Avoidants get triggered faster & stay triggered longer. Anxious partners are often used to conflict, while avoidants shut down to escape it. This means avoidants can become overwhelmed more easily—and take longer to recover.

✨ Self-soothing is a superpower. The more you can regulate your emotions on your own, the less you’ll depend on someone else for reassurance. This is a game-changer for your self-worth and your relationships.

✨ Your internal story shapes your external reality. If you believe “everyone leaves,” you’ll subconsciously seek proof of that. But guess what? You can rewrite that story—and in doing so, you’ll attract healthier love.

If these lessons resonated with you, imagine how powerful it would be to go deeper and apply them to your life.

8 Weeks to Security is your chance to do just that.
